Watermelon Margarita
Introduction:
With the beginning of summer, I begin my new cocktail series with the perfect refreshment for all the hot days to come: the superb Watermelon Margarita. This has honestly been one of my favorite margaritas to date, and is absolutely a crowd pleaser.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. tequila
- 1 oz. watermelon simple*
- ¾ oz. lime juice
- ¼ oz. triple sec
- 1 jalapeno slice
- couple mint leaves
- Mint
- Tajin coated glass
Preparation:
*Watermelon Simple: I used ½ cup blended watermelon, ½ cup water, ½ cup sugar and ~½ cup agave.
Coat the rim of your glass with a lime and sprinkle a bit of Tajin seasoning on it. Fill glass with watermelon ice (blended watermelon frozen in ice trays).
Shake all ingredients with ice for 10+ seconds. Pour into glass.
Notes:
I think using just watermelon and agave for syrup would yield better results.
For ice cubes, I would recommend 1:1 watermelon:water mix as the ice would stay frozen longer.
Also, I’m sure this is even better with mezcal. Ran out of syrup before getting to try it.
