New York Sour

Introduction:

Cousin Kelly sent me a link to a drink that she thought looked good: turned out to be a New York Sour that just looked ok, and had just an ok recipe. I thought I could do better with both. Turns out I was right, and really lucked out with the beautiful sunset background.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. bourbon (I used Elijah Craig)
  • ¾ oz. lemon
  • ½ oz. simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
Garnish
  • Lemon peel

Preparation:

Add all ingredients and shake for ~12 seconds. Add ice and shake vigorously for an additional 10 seconds. Pour into old fashioned glass with a single large rock. Gently pour a few ounces (depending on how much you like wine) of red wine over rock to achieve separation perfection. Garnish with lemon peel. Stare at your beautiful drink that matches the sky prior to consuming. Enjoy.

Notes:

I like using a large rock for New York Sours. Mostly due to the ease of pouring wine for the float.

Any red wine will do it for me. It’s a whiskey drink…
