Cucumber Gimlet
Introduction:
I’ve always found the standard Gimlet to be a little boring: basically a strong limey martini. That is until I found The Aviary recipe which rocked my world. The herbal flavors from the Green Chartreuse and the anis ones from the sambuca add such fantastic flavors to this riff. It has quickly become one of my favorite gin drinks.
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ oz. gin
- ¾ oz. lime Juice
- ⅜ oz. Green Chartreuse
- ¼ oz. Sambuca
- ¼ oz. simple syrup
- 8+ drops of orange bitters
- pinch of salt
- muddled cucumber and mint
- olive oil droplets
Preparation:
Muddle cucumber and mint in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and all ingredients, then vigorously shake for 10-13 seconds. Double strain into a coup glass. Add 5-6 drops of olive oil on top. Serve or drink.
Notes:
There’s not much I would change in this drink. I’ve found some like it without the cucumber, and know other’s that dislike anis from the sambuca. It’s still delicious without either of those ingredients.
