Basil Hayden
A average whiskey, with nutty flavors.
Basil Hayden Toast
Almost as good as Basil Hayden, not nearly as good as Elijah Craig Toasted. My feelings are…meh.
Stellum Bourbon
Another damn fine cask strength whiskey. Mash bill and age: unknown. Flavor: fantastic.
Eagle Rare
If you can find it, I’ve argued that this whiskey is by far the best bang for your buck!
Angel’s Envy
Smooth, light, port barrel finished bourbon that can easily be a daily sipper.
Protected: Lost in the Four Elements
There is no excerpt because this is a protected post.
Four Roses – Single Barrel
Quite the quintessential bourbon.
Kyle’s Personal Rating System
How the hell does Kyle rate his whiskeys??
Hell Canyon: Round Lake
A year later, I decided to tackle Hell Canyon again. This time I wanted even more solitude and decided to hike off trail to a lake found via Google Maps.
Upper Boulder Lake
I’ve had experience off trail before, but post holing with no known trail map was a different story. However, the light rock climbing, all the back tracking and crossing over the creek on fallen trees was worth the hike to have this exceptional lake to myself.
Gourd Lake
Wildlife, incredible views, great weather and solidarity with a beautiful wife. What more can you ask for??
Experiencing Lava Falls Rapid
Although this is primarily a backpacking blog, I can’t disregard some of my other extraordinary outdoors adventures. A few years ago, I wrote a piece on the most memorable rapid in the Grand Canyon, and figured I should share it here!
Hell Canyon: Upper Lake
My first time hiking off Roaring Fork Trailhead up to Hell Canyon was a solo trip, and I was quick to find out why they call it Hell Canyon! I found some awesome camp sites and even more amazing views. An area I absolutely want to explore more of.
Winter Backpacking in Lost Creek Wilderness
Winter backpacking can be a blast…with the right gear. I was finally able to make a January backpacking trip possible in Colorado. And it only got me itching for more winter nights in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Also figured my first post should contain a first, something.
